A Major Challenge
Once, when we were visiting Grammie in Conway, she took me along with her to her choir practice directed by her voice teacher Mr. Farris. I believe they were practicing up Carmina Burana. That was the most demanding choir practice I have ever intended! I was on absolute alert and trying as hard as I possibly could to not mess up! At one point I was astonished when Mr. Farris called me down for tapping my foot (because I was trying so hard to count properly as I read the music)--I was so embarrassed. I realized later that tapping my foot could have distracted other people from the tempo set by the director. That was quite a learning experience for me that I recall frequently. I was really flattered that Grammie thought I was competent to participate in her choir practice!
