Happy Birthday, Grammie!  May the Lord draw you near everyday of the year!  From Tim, Becky, Jonathan and Naomi

Has anyone already mentioned how cool our Grammie is.  She can spin her wheels when driving out of the driveway :D

Or how well she can demonstrate how she tripped and fell that it even looks like she tripped and fell again?

Yes, the singing has been a beautiful gift she has shared with us.  I remember going to one of her choir practices in June 1995 and the director saying I looked just like Grammie.  I wish I could also sing like her.  I remember my mom saying Grammie used to sing, "Que cera, cera, whatever will be will be.  The future's not clear to me.  Que cera, cera."  (I know that's from the King and I but I can't remember the words exactly.)

A song for everything.

Grammie has a song for everything (Any if not, surely a witty short phrase). Every conversation, every action. They are usually songs/phrases I've never heard and never seem to remember. I always look forward to them and I'm certain they'll continue to pop-up...maybe I should start writing them down.

Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday Grammie, Many hugs and kisses from afar. Love you!

West Side Rd

The original homestead where the Smith children grew up.  The brook runs right along this side of the house, but the fishing hole is across the street and where everyone would catch some good brookies.
I feel lucky to share memories of the West Side Rd, and be a part of this family.

Joyce, Nancy, & Victor

I think you have children and grandchildren that look like you Aunt Joyce!

And what do you think these ladies would say about you joining the 80's club? "It ain't all that great"? Or, "Oh, you're young, yet...wait'll you hit 90"!

Faye, Joyce, Phyllis, & Nancy
(now, even Faye has to wear them!)

Dear Grammie,
Happy Birthday from Brianna, Martin, Miguel, Thécia and Chris!
May our great Lord continue to bless and keep you always.

Sincerely with Love

A cool Grammie!!!

I have a memory.....with memories.....
It was at a house (in North Conway?) with a red barn attached to it.
Where we drank a LOT of apple cider, and we were only allowed to watch one hour (I think) of TV in the morning, and where Joel liked some crazy show called "Dr. Who"!
There were horses next door that loved to be fed the rotting apples from this side of the fence.
Well, we siblings went down the road to the lake (pond?) where the water flowed into a creek under the road and away into the woods. It was really fun to explore around there....
This was also the house where Great Uncle Tedd would stop by with bags of chips that were still good for family, but not public consumption, and Grandpa Jim had a truck with a paper route.
So on one of our creek in the woods tour I took off my shoes and left them on one of the higher rocks to wet my feet and walk in the freezing Fall water. When I went back for them there was only one!!!!!!
"Oh no!" ....desperation.....
It turned out it was not the end of the world.
A few hours later I'm in the car with Grammie headed to K-Mart!!! What a cool store. She showed me down the aisle with dozens of footwear options.
This was also at the house where the entire (pretty much) family gathered on the front porch for a Thanksgiving Dinner! That was really nice.
....and where Becky left here plastic Halloween mask on the radiator in the bathroom and several hours later it looked really really spooky. I don't think it even fit her face anymore.
So after wasting no time Grammie approved the purchase of a really cool pair of $20 NIKEs! I mean NIKEES! WOW!!!! That was SO cool. I could not believe Grammie just bought me my first pair of cool NIKEs!!!!
True story, and I have them to this day.

Sweets & Preserves :)

One of my favorite memories about Grammie is about eating (shocking)! As a child, when the family would come visit, we would all go on a wilderness "adventure", get to pick berries and explore, come back and eat our findings! We would also get to taste the fruit preserves Grammie had prepared in her individual explorations, yummy! The chats and family time we would have together while snacking on specially-prepared preserves were truly lovely. :)
